Multi-vehicle New York crash results in fatality

A seven-vehicle accident on the New York State Thruway was said to come about in part because of a plow that was spewing smoke. The accident occurred on Feb. 26 at 10:45 in the morning. The plow pulled over to the shoulder of the road when smoke began emitting from the engine compartment.

According to investigators, a car approaching the plow then swerved out of its lane while striking another vehicle. Another vehicle then sideswiped the plow truck blade. Finally, a 2007 Toyota Prius slowed down in the right lane, was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer and pushed into the back of another tractor-trailer. The driver of the Prius appears to have died at the scene of the motor vehicle accident. Six other individuals were taken to the hospital as a result of the crash.

It's difficult to understand precisely how this accident occurred with the amount of information that has so far been provided. Determining how the accident occurred and who was at fault can mean garnering the resources required to conduct an independent investigation. This could include interviewing witnesses, taking measurements at the accident site and even reconstructing how the accident occurred.

Determining how the accident occurred is not the end of the story. Fault may still be contested and insurance companies may deny or undervalue a claim.

Experienced personal injury attorneys can look out for an injured party's interests in the event of these circumstances. These attorneys have dealt with cases where accidents came about due to a variety of circumstances. Attorneys also have experience in negotiating claims with insurance companies or other parties as well.

While accidents are common, the injuries suffered by victims due to others negligence can often be life-threatening.
