No police report produced two months after fatal crash

The family of a New York woman killed in a traffic accident has still not been supplied with a police report concerning the incident.  The father claims that law officials have been given them a "runaround."  He claims to have telephoned the local police on six or eight occasions.

The accident occurred on January 16.  The accident reportedly came about when a southbound PSEG utility truck had crossed over into her lane and striking the 2000 Ford Explorer she was driving head-on.  No summons was ever issued for the truck driver and it does not appear that any tests were conducted to determine whether the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

There have also been a number of complaints concerning the condition of the road where the accident occurred.  The roadway was said to be the subject of a number of complaints concerning the existence of potholes.  According to one individual, there never was a response to any of these complaints.  However, road repairs had been made following the accident.

Fatal auto accidents are often extremely sudden.  Personal injury lawyers file wrongful death lawsuits in part to determine how an accident occurred.   Lawyers can bring together the resources necessary to make certain an independent investigation on part of the survivors can be conducted.

Discovering what occurred can also sometimes provide closure to family members of the deceased.  “You can imagine what it’s like, to wait and wait and wait, with no response,” said the deceased woman’s father while still awaiting information concerning the accident.

And while no amount of money can make up for the loss, lawyers nevertheless will attempt to recover restitution to minimize the suffering.
