Tractor-trailer crashes head-on with vehicle in fatal crash

The photograph of a truck accident that left a man dead leaves practically nothing to the imagination. On June 13, a semi-truck reportedly crossed the center line of the roadway and crashed head-on into his minivan. The 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The truck accident occurred during the afternoon hours. The accident occurred next to the mobile home in which the victim lived and he was said to be driving home at that time. Two witnesses from New York stated there heard a "big bang" when the crash occurred. One of them attempted to administer first aid to the victim but stated that they could not receive a response.

A sheriff's deputy stated that there were two cars in front of the truck that were in the process of slowing down while one of the cars was turning into a private driveway. It is thought that the truck driver then slammed on the brakes and lost control of his vehicle. The truck subsequently skidded into the other lane and then struck the minivan. The semi-truck apparently skidded between 150 to 200 feet before the collision occurred.

The deputy did not feel that excess speed was a factor to the accident. However, they were investigating to discover whether distracted driving played a role in causing the truck driver to apply the brakes in this manner.

Causes of tractor-trailer wrecks do need to be determined because of the devastating nature of such crashes. While certain motor vehicle crashes may only result in a minor fender bender, truck crashes such as this one often have devastating consequences. Injured parties and victims may require the services of an experienced personal injury attorney who has the resources to recreate and determine the causes of such crashes.
