All across the nation, spring has sprung completely. Spring road conditions are often far safer than winter road conditions tend to be. However, it is important not to get lazy or distracted behind the wheel this spring, as certain seasonal road conditions may leave you and your loved ones vulnerable to accidents.
For example, spring tends to be a rainy time of year. Although it is more likely that you will be involved in an accident when the road’s surface is covered in black ice than you will when the surface is “merely” wet, you can experience injurious and even deadly accidents simply by driving on slick roads. It is vitally important that you ensure that your tire treads remain at safe levels before driving on slick roads, as weak tire treads may make your car more vulnerable to skidding out of control.
In addition, when you are driving in either rainy weather or on slick roads after rain has fallen, it is important that you place a significant distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. If that vehicle either hydroplanes or needs to break suddenly, you will need enough room between you to stop safely.
It is also worth noting that late spring is prom and graduation season. This time of year unfortunately tends to inspire numerous drunk driving accidents as a result. Especially when driving at night, it is important to remain alert. Do not drive while drowsy, intoxicated, emotionally agitated or distracted. Failing to pay strict attention to the task of driving could lead to an injurious or fatal accident.
