Slip-and-fall prevention system developed

A company called Argo has developed a new technological system that will help companies track, address and limit dangerous conditions on their premises, thereby reducing the number of slip-and-fall incidents that occur. The system will be especially helpful for supermarkets, restaurants and convenience stores that want their customers to be safe.

Even though this breakthrough is a big deal, the statement in the source article that jumped out to us was that roughly 25,000 people are injured in slip-and-fall incidents every day, and that these incidents cost companies more than $30 billion per year. That's more than 9 million people suffering from a slip-and-fall every year. Sure, some of the incidents may be minor that result in few, if any, injuries. But others deal serious, even life-threatening injuries to people who are just perusing the aisles at a store.

If this new system can greatly reduce slip-and-fall incidents, then that's a tremendous success. But the fact of the matter is that slip-and-fall accidents will still occur. And, more generally, there is no guarantee that the system will actually be as flawless as it seems -- nor is there a guarantee that many companies will purchase and implement the system. At this point, the system is nothing more than an idea on paper.

Implementing it will be interesting in the coming years. But in the meantime, people who are injured in slip-and-fall incidents need to get legal help to address their case as soon as possible.
